BREAKING INTO LUXURY REAL ESTATE
One of the first moments where luxury real estate started feeling tangible to me was walking into the Christie’s International Real Estate office with the president of the Real Estate Association to meet one of our first potential speakers for the panel.
By that point, I had already become deeply interested in the industry, but being in that environment made everything feel far more real. The level of professionalism, awareness, communication, and presence the speakers carried immediately stood out to me.
Through the Real Estate Association at Santa Monica College, we eventually brought together professionals from Christie’s International Real Estate, Nest Seekers, and Keller Williams for a panel focused on luxury real estate and the realities behind the industry.
What interested me most was how differently each person approached the business. One speaker described maintaining very structured work hours and boundaries around their time, while another spoke about being available almost constantly. Burnout, pressure, client relationships, and work-life balance were discussed very openly, which made the industry feel far more layered than the polished image people often associate with luxury real estate online.
What also stayed with me was the way these professionals carried themselves socially. The way they spoke, navigated conversations, held attention, and communicated with people almost felt like an art form in itself. There was a level of composure and awareness that completely changed my understanding of what operating at a high level actually looks like.
Even friends who attended the panel without much interest in real estate left feeling inspired afterward. There was something about the energy in the room that extended far beyond the industry itself.
That panel became one of the first moments where luxury real estate stopped feeling distant and started feeling like a world I could genuinely see myself building within long term.
